Cleaning Tips

Welcome to the real period freedom! We’re thrilled that you’re part of the Diva family!

Whether it’s your first time using the DivaCup, or maybe you just need a little reminder, our Consumer Support team has included some helpful detailed tips to help you care for your Diva products. Always reach out to our team at [email protected] or via DM if you have any questions!

Boiling

Boil the DivaCup for 5–10 minutes before the first use. After the first use, boiling isn’t “mandatory”; it’s a recommendation. Some people don’t boil their cups at all, as regular care and cleaning can be sufficient. Don’t leave the boiling pot unattended! Use sufficient water so that the pan doesn’t boil dry. If you have accidentally burned the DivaCup when the water in the pot boiled dry, the cup is most likely damaged and should not be reused. We recommend replacing it for a new one. We also recommend using a stainless-steel pot designated for boiling. Avoid pots with a chemical non-stick coating.

Cleaning

Clean your DivaCup with DivaWash, which is specially formulated to gently cleanse the DivaCup, or use a mild, oil and perfume/fragrance-free soap and warm water. The DivaCup may naturally, slightly discolor over time, this doesn’t impair its functionality. At the end of each cycle, if preferred, you can also boil your cup for five to ten (5–10) minutes. We’ve also got you covered for when you’re on the go! Our compostable DivaWipes are great for when you don’t necessarily have access to a sink. And they are perfume, dye and alcohol free! If you have access to potable water, we also recommend the ShakerCup. It’s like a portable dishwasher for your DivaCup, but way cuter! Just add water, DivaWash, and shake clean. Do not use:

• Vinegar

• Tea tree oil

• Scented/Fragranced soap

• Castile soap

• Peppermint soap

• Rubbing alcohol

• Antibacterial soap

• Hand sanitizer

• Baking soda

• Pre-moistened wipes (other than our DivaWipes)

• Hydrogen peroxide

• Dishwashing soap/Detergent

• Bleach

• Any harsh chemicals

• Any oil-based soaps

These ingredients have been known to damage or compromise the silicone and your cup may show signs of deterioration such as: a sticky or powdery film, severe discoloration, or foul odor. If you have cleaned the DivaCup with any of the non-recommended cleansers, it’s strongly recommended that you replace the cup if there are any signs of deterioration or if you experience burning and/or irritation.

Cleaning the 4 holes

The DivaCup has tiny air holes below the rim that must always be kept clear and clean.

How to clean: Submerge under water and squeeze the water out through the holes or gently stretch each hole under warm running water.

Storing

At the end of your cycle, thoroughly wash, rinse, and dry your DivaCup completely. Store the DivaCup in its cotton pouch, away from strongly perfumed items. Doing this will help preserve the integrity of the cup. Don’t store it in the ShakerCup or an airtight container as the cup requires air to flow.
