DivaCup is now FSA/HSA eligible!

Period protection is finally covered.

Anything that makes period care more accessible is good news in our eyes. That’s why we’re thrilled to let you know: under the new CARES Act, menstrual cups are considered medical expenses. This means you can now use your FSA or HSA to buy yourself a brand new DivaCup directly from ShopDiva! And to make all this as easy as possible, we’ve put together a few FAQs.

So, what does FSA and HSA eligible actually mean?

Okay, let’s start with the basics. An FSA is a flexible saving account, and an HSA is a health savings account. With either account, you can use pre-tax income for medical expenses. And since menstrual products are finally classified as “medical expenses,” DivaCup is now FSA and HSA eligible.

Let’s talk FSA and HSA details.

  • What’s the deal with FSAs?
    • You can use this account to buy over-the-counter medication,
prescriptions, thermometers, DivaCups, and a whole bunch of
      other expenses.
    • To get an FSA, you’ll need an employer to set it up.
    • If you change jobs or forget to spend your whole balance, you’ll
lose any unused money in the account.
    • It has a lower contribution limit than an HSA.
  • What’s the deal with HSAs?
    • You can put this money toward all kinds of medical tests,
medication, a whole bunch of other expenses
      , or, of course,
      menstrual products.
    • You can apply for an HSA if you don’t have an employer, but
you’ll need a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) to get an HSA.
    • If you don’t use all the funds in the account, they roll over to the
      next year.
    • It has a higher contribution limit than an FSA.
  • Okay, how do I get an FSA or HSA?

If you have an employer, check with them to see whether they
contribute to FSA accounts for their employees. And if you’re
self-employed, you can apply for an HSA as long as you have an HDHP.
